Denmark packaging EPR in 2026: DPA register, scheme and quantity report
Danish Producer Responsibility runs the national register. Joining a collective scheme and filing quantities are later steps, and reusable packaging sits in its own data fields.

Short answer: Danish Producer Responsibility (DPA) operates the national producer register. Packaging registration, membership of a collective scheme and the later quantity report are three distinct steps. Denmark national guidance
Three steps, three files
Teams stop after the DPA certificate or after the scheme welcome email. DPA registration identifies the producer and selected categories. The collective scheme finances collection and recovery for covered packaging. The quantity report reconciles what was actually placed.
Archive the registration certificate, keep forecast quantities separate from later actuals, and align scheme invoices with the reporting guide. Denmark packaging source
Reusable lines in the reporting guide
DPA's data model distinguishes cardboard, paper, ferrous metals, aluminium, glass, plastics, beverage cartons, wood and further materials. Reusable packaging is recorded separately. Break mixed parcels into component weights before the first report. Denmark material guidance
Producer test and authorised representatives
Document who first makes packaging available in Denmark. An EU or EEA producer selling directly to Danish end users must check the Denmark-based authorised representative route described by DPA. Establishment outside the EU or EEA is treated differently in current DPA guidance. Denmark national rules
Materials from porcelain to composites
National guidance also lists textiles, porcelain, cork, ceramics and other materials. The live form may split plastics, composites, functions or customer streams further. Weigh packaging components only. Count quantities first placed in Denmark. Denmark material source
Cross-border sellers paste foreign producer numbers into DPA. PPWR has applied generally since 12 August 2026, but it does not replace Danish registration.
How to complete the Denmark route
- Fix producer identity per route.
- Complete DPA registration with categories and forecasts as required.
- Contract with the collective scheme for covered packaging.
- Map single-use and reusable components to material lines.
- Submit the quantity declaration and reconcile to Danish sales.
Checklist before you file in Denmark
- DPA certificate stored with the legal entity that places packaging.
- Scheme agreement covers the SKUs and materials in scope.
- Reusable packaging logged on separate lines where the guide requires it.
- Authorised representative appointed for direct EU/EEA consumer sales if DPA guidance requires it.
- Actual report reconciled to sales, imports and returns for the period.
Mistakes that break a Denmark return
Treating scheme membership as proof of DPA registration. Folding reusable pool packaging into single-use material totals.
Common questions about Denmark packaging EPR
Is DPA registration the same as joining a packaging scheme? No. DPA runs the national producer register; the collective scheme and quantity declaration are separate steps. Preserve the DPA certificate and the scheme agreement. Recheck the live Denmark form before you treat this as filed. Denmark national guidance
Does every Denmark material sit on one declaration line? No. The families listed here are cardboard, paper, ferrous metals, aluminium, glass, plastics, beverage cartons, wood, textiles, porcelain, cork, ceramics and other materials. The current register or scheme form may split plastics, composites, functions or customer streams further. Use that form, not a household bin colour, as the fee or reporting code. Denmark material guidance
Does a Denmark scheme contract replace registration? A contract can cover defined collection and recovery work. The producer still has to complete any separate Denmark registration and data-reporting step and keep those records aligned. Denmark national guidance
Can one EU filing cover Denmark? No. Keep a Denmark file for packaging first placed there, with its own responsible party, material ledger and evidence. A number issued in another Member State does not prove Denmark compliance. PPWR
For the authority, law and the live country checks, use the Denmark country page. The 27-country EPR overview shows how to keep one packaging ledger while filing each market separately. The applicability test is the right first step if the producer role is still unclear.
